Thank you for another great video. I have never visited that area but I knew a little bit about how it worked but not a lot else. One thought that came into my head after watching this video is that companies were prepared to take more risk back then than they are today.

2:21 can see Rugeley on that map! lol as it lies on the Trent and Mersey Canal, but Foxton Incline does look like a massive feet on engineering, it's a shame that it was a great idea but came too late

At least it’s not a whole doona. The narrowboat pirate once got one trapped around her prop, and I think she spent the next 2 to 3 hours trying to dislodge it with assistance from crew.

There's a working incline plane boat lift on the Trent-Severn Waterway .... in Canada. Big Chute Marine Railway is near Port Severn at the western end.

We had a few canals here in the US, among them, the Erie Canal, the C&O canal, and the Potomac or Potowmack Canal which was a group of 5 canals; but our canals weren't to the extent that y'all in UK had/have them. Even from 4,000 miles away and probably never ever seeing your canals in person because of health and income, I am glad that people have done the preservation and rebuilding and are doing the using of that very special thing y'all have with all those canals.

Oi, no sticking Foxton Locks badges on Foxglove until she's been thru there! 😛 How wonderful would it be to get the inclined plane working again? What a treat that would be.

There was an inclined plane on the Monklands canal near Barlinnie prison. The Monklands is now under the M8 between Easterhouse and Townhead. The inclined plane was where the M80 - M8 eastbound ramp is now and there is nothing left of it.

The first time I visited Foxton Locks whilst in junior school, the inclined plane was massively overgrown and you couldn't really get an idea of how it worked. The boiler house was just that original wall and there wasn't any museum. But I was impressed by the locks. Later in life (late 70's) I took a holiday on the canals and went down the Foxton locks, seem to remember there was about an hour wait as the lock keeper had to sort out a number of boats coming up the flight with complete disregard for anyone trying to get down.

Lorna, great job. I enjoy your videos that highlight the fabulous canal system you enjoy. If I’m fortunate I may visit a small part of it.

After seeing how busy foxton (and Braunston) get in summer, I'd be constantly worried about the boat being bashed if it was on a crt mooring near a junction.

Just found your video, after watching you on cruising the cut! Love your boat she is so Cute!! Have you made a video about the costs involved in having a new boat made and the in's and out's of that??
